The Printed Textiles pathway at Loughborough University has an outstanding reputation and our students are renowned for their innovative approach to Textile design. The students are encouraged to investigate original concepts through drawing and contextual research and to apply their designs to a diverse range of materials, surfaces and fabrics.

This year’s graduates have spent the last three years working on a variety of projects for fashion and interior applications that are inventive and unique. They have gained skills and experience developing their ideas into design collections that explore screen-printing processes and digital design technology.

All students have worked on external projects with industry including live projects with White Stuff and Abercrombie and Fitch. Many have enjoyed the experience of short work placements in design studios, or have chosen to spend a year working in industry and were based in Copenhagen, New York, Australia and in the UK; they will gain a Diploma in Professional Studies.

Our students have the opportunity to exhibit their collections annually at the trade fair ‘Indigo’; Paris and many have successfully sold their designs to International and UK Companies. All students are encouraged to enter design competitions and this year a number have won prestigious awards in the Bradford Textile Society Design competition and the Society of Dyers and Colourists International Design Competition gaining recognition for the innovative quality of their artwork and design collections.

Many of our graduates are employed in design studios in the UK and abroad, whilst others continue to pursue careers as individual practitioners, designers, stylists, creative directors, teachers and lecturers.

This years graduates are enthusiastic and passionate about their work and individual creativity. They have been hard working and highly motivated and I wish them all the best in the future and every success in their chosen careers.
